Pollinators in the news

With March finally upon us it is time to brush the cobwebs off this blog.

Firstly I’d like to draw you attention to an excellent article on the value of pollinators at http://www.resurgence.org/magazine/article4353.html

The article states amongst other things that based on UK crop production figures from 2007, it is estimated that pollinating insects provided services that underpinned crops with a market value of about £430 million.

Secondly the draft All Ireland Pollinator Plan is now available to see at http://pollinators.biodiversityireland.ie/home/all-ireland-pollinator-plan-2015-2020/

And it is not too late to sign up to the Irish Bumblebee Monitoring Scheme
