New bee for garden list

Yesterday I found a very yellow bee feeding on our comfrey flowers. It’s turned out to be a male Bombus jonellus or the Heath Bumblebee. While it is more common in upland areas, as it’s name suggests, it is found in most habitats including gardens.

About Murtagh's Meadow

As an ecologist I have always had an interest in nature. I love gardening and would spend all day outdoors if I could. I also enjoy taking photographs and writing. I live in the west of Ireland with my young family.
